Ricky Weipz and Anetra Burton Join the Rising Coaches Team

May 8, 2023 - Rising Coaches, an organization dedicated to empowering and supporting basketball coaches at all levels, is excited to announce the the promotion of Ricky Weipz to the Director of Operations role and hiring of Anetra Burton as the new Director of Creative Content and Member Services.
 

Ricky started working for Rising Coaches as an intern in March 2021 and was hired as the Director of Digital Content during that summer. Since then, he has been responsible for most of the graphics and content posted across the Rising Coaches social media pages.

“I am forever thankful to Adam Gordon, Andy Farrell and Brandon Rosenthal for giving me the opportunity to be part of Rising Coaches a few years ago," Ricky said. "The Rising Coaches community is something very special and I look forward to helping it continue to grow and impact as many people as possible.”

Ricky just completed his fourth year as a student-manager at Arizona State University. The last three seasons he served as the head manager for the program. Weipz graduated from ASU in December 2022 with a degree in Sports Journalism and will stay with the Sun Devils as a Graduate Assistant for this upcoming year.

Brian Burton shared his thoughts on Ricky's promotion: “I absolutely love Ricky’s skill set, drive, and ability when it comes to this new role for him. Ricky has been a vital part of the behind the scenes for Rising Coaches for a while and has more than earned this promotion. He is a young man with a great versatility of skills combined with a strong work ethic that makes him a really valuable. He’s been a student manager at Arizona State and has just accepted a GA position there as well. I can definitely seeing him transiting to DOBO type of role when he finishes his masters.  He has all that you need to be a star in that role.”


Anetra is a familiar face from the All-Access Network family, where she was the Executive Producer and an integral team member in building the network into what it is today. She will utilize her expertise and creativity in her role with Rising Coaches to enhance the overall member experience.

Anetra has a BA in Business Administration from Friends Univ. and MA in Communication from Wichita State. She also has her eye on obtaining a Ph.D. soon.

Brian Burton, Rising Coaches President of Basketball Operations, expressed his excitement about the addition of Anetra: “When it comes to hiring people for different roles, trust always comes up at the top of the list. No one I knew I could trust more than my cousin Anetra to be special in this position. She’s proven how impactful & invaluable she is already with her work in a similar role working together with All-Access Network. She has been the driving force to that platform that now has over 40 million views in just 3 years. Her creativity, positive energy, and ability to connect with be huge for our members & the overall Rising Coaches community. She brings a sparkle and a joy with her along with a strong background in public relations, creative content, & production that will really help add so much to our team in this new created role for Rising Coaches.”

Additionally, Anetra’s talents also extend to the art of photography. She owns her own business, #AB Unlimited Photography, has over 35 years of experience in the field, and prides herself on thinking outside the box. She specializes in creative photography for sports and events.

Brian Burton Named President of Basketball Operations for Rising Coaches

 
April 27, 2023 - Rising Coaches, an organization dedicated to empowering and supporting basketball coaches at all levels, is excited to announce the appointment of Brian Burton as their new President of Basketball Operations. Burton, who has spent almost 20 years as a college basketball coach, is currently a college basketball analyst for ESPN and is the founder and CEO of Uprise Athletics Group and All-Access Network. He has been working closely with Rising Coaches over the last three years, hosting shows and events, investing in the our community, and also helping start the Rising Coaches DEI-Alliance where he has served as our Vice President for Men’s Basketball.
 
“I am extremely thankful to Adam Gordon, Andy Farrell, and Brandon Rosenthal for this awesome opportunity," said Burton. "Rising Coaches has been an invaluable part of my transition from my college coaching career in many ways and I’m grateful for the role they play in the industry. I am excited to help build onto the great things they have done over the last 13 years and continue to be a positive light in the game."
 
Adam Gordon, CO-founder of Rising Coaches, expressed his excitement about the appointment of Burton. "We are thrilled to have Brian as our new President of Basketball Operations.
Brian has had a tremendous impact on Rising Coaches over the last three years with his various contributions, his endless investment in the basketball community, and helping us create & effectively run the Rising Coaches DEI-Alliance serving as Vice President. His commitment to improving the coaching industry is extremely evident. We’re thankful for the impact he’s making on the game and his heart to serve. Brian will be a tremendous asset to our members. We are fortunate to have him!”
 
Burton made the transition from College Coaching in 2020 after almost 2 decades of coaching at the D1, D2, and junior college levels. His D1 coaching stops include University of Utah, Fresno State, UTEP, Lamar, IUPUI, and Abilene Christian. He also played College Basketball at D2 & D3 levels at both St. Edwards University, and UT Dallas, in Texas. At UT Dallas, Burton was a 2 year starter and Captain while leading the team in several statistical categories including assists & minutes played. His senior year he helped led the Comets to their 1st Championship and winning season program in history.
 
Brian graduated from Plano East Senior High in Plano, TX. He and his wife, Natalie, have 3 daughters and currently live in Loveland, Colorado.
 
In his new position, Burton will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization and continue to provide support and resources to coaches at all levels.
 
Burton says, “The vision is simple.
1. Continue to create an authentic basketball community where everyone is welcome and everyone can connect, develop, & elevate.
2. To support, celebrate, and provide great benefit to our members.
3. To be a light in Men’s & Women’s basketball at all levels through Rising Coaches platforms, events, and community.”
