Member Spotlight: Derrick Pringle

Derrick Pringle began his coaching career as a volunteer coach to then coaching at Rochester High School in Washington. Coach Pringle is now the Director of a competitive youth basketball development program in Tumwater, WA called DAP Hoops.

How did you first get into coaching? What has been the driver that has kept you in coaching?
I volunteered at the local YMCA in WV. The driving force that motivates me in coach, is to see kids fulfill their dreams of playing for their local high school.
 
What has been your greatest lesson learned in coaching so far?
That every team is different in their own way.
 
What has been your most memorable win?
In 2021, when we held off the #5 team in state and won by 5!
 
Tell us a recent book/podcast/movie that has left you inspired as a coach.
The movie "Coach Carter", the Rising Coaches Podcast, and book "Coach Em Way Up". 
 
  Fun Fact: Tell us something about yourself that people would be surprised to know about you.
I never played basketball in high school. I was a two-sport athlete playing football and track.
 
As a member, what has been the most rewarding aspect/ favorite memory of Rising Coaches for you?
I love the guest speakers that come on, and there are a lot of valuable tips that comes out of every show.
